Bree has her two month check-up on Monday, so I'll have to provide details afterward, but I'm a little nervous about the shots. My sister-in-law, Ashle, gave me some tips for making Bree more comfortable, and I was wondering if anyone else had any pointers.
You can always give her tylenol before or after. None of my kids really had trouble with it. They might be a little grumpy, but most of them actually just slept more than usual - no complaints about that! I was so worried about Madeline's first shots, but it really isn't (usually) that big of a deal. The hardest part for me (the first time) was hearing her cry such a horrible cry because she wasn't used to being poked like that. You get used to that too though :)
ReplyDeleteIt so sad to see them get shots. but much easier at Bree's age since she doesn't really know what is going on. Once they are older and look to you for protection...that is the saddest to watch their little face look at you as you hold them down to get a killer shot! I always get teary eyed either way! Good luck. I agree with the tylenol thing...gives me the peace of mind thinking it might take some of the pain away after when their legs are achy. I also always thought a warm bath after to help with the sore legs from the shot. But I think anything that Bree likes to just try to make her more comfortable. Oh the joys of motherhood! (sorry I know my spelling is awful!)
ReplyDeleteOh and we need some more pictures of your little beauty!! I can't believe she is 2 months!
ReplyDeleteI always found it hard for me to watch them poke Eli...he always wanted lots of hugs and napped a lot longer after the shots (yay!). Good luck!
ReplyDeleteI agree with the Tylenol. Aidan usually did well too and just slept a little more. I always (still do) plan to be home the rest of the day after his shots so that I can just hug him and cuddle him and let him nap as much as he wants. When he was really small and would let me I would pretty much hold him all day after his shots because that is where he was the most comfortable. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteI agree with the Tylenol- the ped usually suggests giving it to them right about the time of your appt so when the shots go in, she's good to go. But beware, in case you don't know... and sine you have the same ped as me... they unfortunately make you hold them down. (Many other peds don't do this). So if you don't want to, tell them ahead of time and request a second nurse.
